Alexis Vafeadis, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works, emphasized the government's dedication to building more ecologically friendly and accessible cities. He outlined the two primary pillars of this planning: first, encouraging individuals to use public transportation and lowering their reliance on private vehicles; and second, replacing the nation's fleet of vehicles with electric and non-polluting models. According to the minister, the initiatives in Limassol and Larnaca would ease traffic, enhance the infrastructure of public transportation, and encourage more energy-efficient, cleaner modes of transportation like walking, bicycling, and public transportation. "We are making sure that our cities become more resilient, sustainable, and accessible by investing in these sustainable urban mobility strategies. These initiatives' long-term effects would enhance everyone's quality of life in Cyprus, he added, in addition to helping the environment. "Our vision for Cyprus is clear: to become a nation where sustainable mobility is at the heart of urban planning," he stated.
